JAMMU, June 3: The Government today set up five members Expert Committee to examine feasibility/demand for creation of new administrative units in the left-out areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Finance Commissioner, Industries and Commerce Department would be Chairman of the Committee, while Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir and Directors Rural Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir would be its members.
The Commissioner/ Secretary Revenue Department would be Member-Secretary of the Expert Committee, which would also have concerned Deputy Commissioners as co-opted Members.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had declared on floor of the Assembly during budget session in February that the Expert Committee would be set up to examine demand for creation of more administrative units in the State after uproar by some MLAs that their areas had been ignored by the Cabinet Sub Committee.
