Switching off the lights

Sir,
While the public is reeling under unspecified load shedding because of the shortage of power , the street lights on roads, fly overs, in mohellas and localities continue to be on even during day time when their need is not there.  Many times these lights are not switched off till late hours during the day even in many residential areas where switching off facilities are well within the reach of the residents.
The problem is more with street lights which are controlled by the departments concerned that are not bothered to save the precious but scarce power. Wastages are becoming a habit be it water or power. It is the duty of each citizen to have a broader outlook in the interests of the state to avoid wastage of power. The concerned departments must wake up to the changing scenario in the country and keep such lights on only during the night hours.
Yours etc…
