J&K Contractors’ Coordination Committee projects demands

JAMMU, June 4: General secretary J&K Contractors’ Coordination Committee, Balv-inder Singh, Raghubir Singh Manhas and senior members of the Committee have warned the State Government of stopping the construction works if the payment of their pending cheques in various treasuries of the State are not released at an earliest.
Addressing the media persons, Mr Singh said that they have submitted cheques in different treasuries in the first Week of March, 2014 and the payment is yet to be released, adding that contractors who had submitted their cheques in the Sadar Treasury, Town Hall, Jammu are the worst sufferers because of the freezing of the two major heads of PWD by the J&K High Court from 2-03-2014 to 12-03-2014.
The JKCCC also criticised the Minister for Health and Minister for Higher Education for giving away the construction works of different hospitals, schools and colleges to the State Housing Board, bypassing the parent construction Department.
The JKCCC also alleged that the State Government gives allotment of works to the PWD contractors of only those works for which there are no budgetary available.
The members warned the Government if such practice is not stopped, they will be forced to expose them publicly and come on streets.
The other members of the Committee present on the occasion were Jasbir Singh Sudan, Prem Singh Jasrotia, Lucky, Kamaljit Singh, Ravinder Singh, Laddy, Drub Singh and Rajkumar.
