JAMMU, June 6: The Health Department today ordered attachment of two doctors in the referral case of a rape victim.
According to an order issued by Director Health Services, Dr BS Pathania, Dr Suresh Kapahi, Consultant Gynae, District Hospital Rajouri and Dr Naresh Khajuria, Consultant Gynae, CHC Nowshera are attached with Directorate of Health Services with immediate affect.
The rape victim hailing from village Dhanaka, tehsil Nowshera, district Rajouri was first taken to CHC Nowshera, then to SDH Nowshera and later referred to District Hospital Rajouri. She was further referred to GMCH Jammu despite presence of consultant gynaecologists in SDH Nowshera and DH Rajouri.
The referral issue of the rape victim was taken up by the Director Health Services seriously and he ordered attachment of these two consultant gynaecologists vis-à-vis enquiry into the incident.
As reported, a youth identified as Sanjeev Kumar of village Dhanaka allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl hailing from same area. After committing the crime, the accused fled from the spot leaving behind the victim in unconscious state. Some passerby noticed the girl lying unconscious and informed the police.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the girl to Sub District Hospital (SDH), Nowshera from where she was later referred to District Hospital Rajouri for advanced treatment. Citing the condition of the girl, the doctors posted in District Hospital Rajouri further referred the victim to GMCH Jammu, despite presence of gynaecologists.
The accused was arrested while a case under relevant Sections was registered at police station Nowshera and investigation is going on.
