NAGPUR, July 9:
The IAF is going through a process of transformation and there is a need for commanders to gear up for change and contribute effectively to the process of modernisation, Air Marshal J Chandra, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command said here today.
While addressing the Commanders’ conference at Headquarters Maintenance Command here, Air Marshal Chandra expressed satisfaction over the performance of the units and exhorted the commanders for modernisation of production means and sustenance of quality norms.
“Assets worth several thousand crore rupees would be purchased over next few years which include aircraft, radars, missile systems and various other platforms. With the new inductions, our role would also undergo changes. We should make full use of this opportunity and re-orient ourselves with changing times,” he said.
“The field units who finally launch various offensive and defensive missions are our ‘customers’. We should always be customer-oriented and make our repair support and supply system a game changer in the national security matrix,” he mentioned.
The conference is being attended by commanders of the smaller field units under Maintenance Command and Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters Maintenance Command.
Senior Maintenance Staff Officer, Air Marshal S Sriram, Air Officer Engineering Services, Air Vice Marshal D K Pande VSM and Senior Air & Admin Staff Officer Air Vice Marshal J S Kler VM were also present on the occasion, a release from Defence PRO said. (PTI)
