MENDHAR, June 7: The people from Harni area today held protest against the PHE authorities for their failure to restore the snapped water supply in Firozalla and adjoining hamlets for the last several months.
Reports said the villagers from Firozalla and adjoining areas today held protest demonstration against the PHE authorities at Harni. They alleged that pumping station has been found locked for the past many weeks now. It has been alleged by concerned local staff that pumps are not working being out of order. The matter was brought to the notice of concerned JE and supervisor but water supply could not be restored.
They warned the senior PHE officers to ensure better monitoring at lower level and ensure supply of water during these hot summer days otherwise, the villagers would be forced to lock PHE officials at Mendhar PHE Sub Divisional office. They also sought the intervention of SDM Mendhar and DC Poonch in this regard.
Meanwhile, SDM Mendhar today initiated an inquiry after very dirty and unhygienic water supply was provided to the people of the town today. Many people collected water samples and reached the SDM to show the sample of the water supply being provided to the public by PHE. It was observed that some foul stuff was pouring along with the tap water. The locals alleged that many PHE tanks were lying open and they were not being cleaned properly and made hygienic by adding chlorine. The SDM taking serious note of the issue initiated and inquiry into the matter through a first Class Magistrate.
