ANC places demands before Finance Commission

JAMMU, June 7: Awami National Conference has brought into the notice of 14th Finance Commission the priorities of State which need immediate attention of Central Government.
Issuing a press statement in Jammu, ANC provincial president, Gian Singh has demanded more resources to boost Agriculture and Horticulture sectors in the State to generate more market support for the produce and ultimately more employment avenues as there is limited resources base of the State.
Singh further said that issues like rural sanitation, availability of safe drinking water should be taken on top priority. He also demanded for provision of honorarium of Panchs and Sarpanchs besides various initiatives for boosting rural economy for which the 14th Financial Commission should provide liberal funding for strengthening the rural infrastructure.
Commission must take care of  thrust areas including public conveniences, parks, community halls, parking spaces, bus stands, lane and by-lanes besides sewerage, drainage, water supply, urban transport, solid waste management, urban poverty alleviation and conservation of water bodies, Singh added.
