Girls leave boys way behind, bag 43 positions

JAMMU, June 7: Leaving boys far behind in the merit list, girls secured 43 out of total 58 positions in the BA/BSc/BCom/BBA and BCA Part-III examinations, the results of which were declared by the University of Jammu (JU), here today.
Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College secured first position in the Science stream, whereas Government SPMR College of Commerce bagged three positions in Commerce faculty.
The girl students of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar secured five positions in BSc stream, whereas in B.Com, the girl students of Government College for Women (GCW) Parade topped with four positions.
Meanwhile, in BCA and BBA streams, private colleges made their presence felt in the merit list.
In Science stream, Sukriti Gupta of GGM Science College secured first position with 85.81 per cent marks, whereas the second and third positions were claimed by Abrar Ahmed Kripak of Government Degree College, Kishtwar and Shivam Mahajan of Government Degree College, Kishtwar respectively by securing 85.15 and 84.84 per cent marks respectively.
The fourth, fifth and sixth positions were claimed by the students of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar namely Preeti Jamwal, Sushma Devi and Sheriya Sareen by securing 84.72, 84.66 and 84.48 per cent respectively.
The seventh position was bagged by the student of GGM Science college namely Ravinder Singh by securing 84.24 per cent marks.
The eighth position was shared by Sandeep Singh of Government Degree College (boys), Udhampur and Ramandeep Kour of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar by securing 84.18 per cent marks.
The ninth position was claimed by Arun Gupta of Government Degree College (Boys), Udhampur by securing 83.93 per cent marks, whereas the tenth position was bagged by Ruchika Sabherwal of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar.
In Commerce stream, Sugandha Verma of DDE (ICE) Jammu bagged first position by securing 72.50 per cent marks, whereas the second position was claimed by Ruchi Kumari of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade by securing 71.88 per cent marks.
Purva Singh of Government SPMR College of Commerce bagged third position by securing 71.83 per cent marks, whereas the fourth position was claimed by Manju Bala of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade by securing 71.66 per cent marks.
The fifth and sixth positions were secured by Anu Sharma of Government Degree College for Women (GCW), Udhampur and Payal Sharma of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade by securing 71.27 per cent and 71.22 per cent marks respectively.
Adil Mukhyar Dar of Government SPMR College of Commerce, Vani Mahajan of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade and Alka Devi of Government Degree College, Kathua secured seventh, eighth and ninth positions by securing 70.88, 70.27 and 69.88 per cent marks respectively.
The tenth position was shared by Amita Devi of Government Degree College (Boys) Udhampur, Prateek Mahajan of Government SPMR College of Commerce and Surbhi Arora of DDE (ICE), Jammu by securing 69.83 per cent marks respectively.
In Arts stream, Tazeem Akhter of Government Degree College, Poonch bagged first position by securing 79.75 per cent marks, whereas second and third positions were secured by Jasleen Kour of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar and Imtiaz Ahmed of Government Degree College, Thanamandi, district Rajouri by securing 76.96 and 76.78 per cent marks respectively.
Preeti Sharma of Government Degree College for Women (GCW), Udhampur and Chahat Ismaily of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar secured fourth and fifth positions by securing 76.30 and 75.03 per cent marks respectively.
The sixth position was shared by the students of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar namely Chander Mohini and Madhu Salgotra by securing 74.66 per cent marks.
Sayed Asif Mujtaba Jafri of Government Degree College, Mendhar, Varun Kumar of Government MAM College, Shivangi Choudhary and Sonia Singh, both of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar claimed seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions by securing 75.54, 74.48, 74.24 and 74.06 per cent marks respectively.
In Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Chetna Handa of Government SPMR College of Commerce secured first position by securing 80.95 per cent marks, whereas Paheli Sharma of Government MAM College and Aseesdeep Kour of Government SPMR College of Commerce secured second and third positions by securing 79.09 and 75.38 per cent marks respectively.
The fourth position was shared by Vivek Jasrotia of Government Degree College, Kathua and Neha Koul of Tawi Institute of Management and Science, Jammu by securing 75.23 per cent marks.
Rashika Dubey of Government MAM College and Manya Sethi of Government SPMR College of Commerce shared fifth position by securing 75 per cent marks.
The sixth and seventh positions were claimed by Rahul Bhat of Government MAM College and Taniya Chalotra of RM College by securing 74.90 and 74.76 per cent marks respectively.
The eighth position was shared by Sheetal Sharma of Government MAM College and Priya Charak of Dogra Degree College, Bari Brahmana by securing 74.66 per cent marks.
The ninth and tenth positions were secured by Shilpa Jasrotia of Dogra Degree College, Bari Brahmana and Vikram Singh of RM College by securing 74.38 and 73.76 per cent marks respectively.
In Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Palak Sharma of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade claimed first position by securing 75.93 per cent marks, whereas the second and third positions were claimed by Deepika Sharma of Government SPMR College of Commerce and Meenakshi Bhat of Tawi Institute of Management and Science by securing 75.27 and 75.21 per cent marks respectively.
Aakriti Bhat and Pranav Sharma, both of GGM Science College secured fourth and fifth positions by securing 74.30 per cent and 73.87 per cent marks respectively.
The sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth positions were claimed by Mahima Malhotra of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, Government SPMR College of Commerce, Shaveta Kamotra of Government MAM College and Nandita Koul of GGM Science College by securing 72.42, 72.12, 71.81 and 71.75 per cent marks respectively.
Neha Sharma of GGM Science College and Rashi Gupta of Government SPMR College of Commerce shared tenth position by securing 71.45 per cent marks.
