Govt revokes ESMO against employees

JAMMU, June 9:  The Government has revoked Essential Services Maintenance Ordinance  (ESMO) against the agitating employees with immediate effect.
In an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) today, it was directed to the all concerned for the revocation of cases registered under the provisions of ESMO, 2001 (1944 AD), against the Government employees who participated in protests/ strikes during 2013-14.
The instructions were also passed by the secretary, GAD, M A Bukhari for treatment of  the period of unauthorised  absence from duties of the employees involved in  instigation/ participation in protests/ strikes during this period, as leave whatever kind due to them.
On the basis of  the representations received from employees unions/ associations, the matter was placed before the competent authority  which decided to take lenient view against them. The decision to treat strike period as break in service/ dies-non  was withdrawn.
