10 youth from J&K make it to IAS

JAMMU, June 12: Ten candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, have qualified Indian Administrative Services (IAS) examination, result of which was declared by UPSC, New Delhi today.
Out of these 10 candidates, two hailed from Mendhar tehsil. One of them belonged to the family of senior NC leader Javed Rana- Vice Chairman Legislative Council and Masud Choudhary former VC of  Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri.
Dr Owais Ahmed Rana (Rank 741), son of Zahoor Rana (brother of Javed Rana), resident of  Kalaban Mendhar. Another youth from Mendhar is Mehtab Ahmed Jagal (Rank 1003), son of Wazir Mohammed from Gursai in Mendhar. Third youth, Qummer-ul-Zaman Choudhary (Rank 751), son of  Prof Dr Mohd Zaman Choudhary belonged to Phagla in Surankote. Dr Owais is already a KAS officer of 2011 batch and is presently placed as Under Secretary in CAPD Department.
Mehtab from Gursai is a Civil Engineer from NIT Srinagar and a KAS officer of 2011 batch, presently placed as Tehsildar (Relief) in Revenue Department at Jammu.
Qummer-ul-Zaman is also Civil Engineer from  NIT, Srinagar. He also qualified KAS in 2011 and is presently posted as Assistant Registrar, Cooperatives at Udhampur. He belonged to the family of educationists. His father retired as College Principal while mother is a teacher.
Seven more youth from the State who have made it to IAS are- Vikrant Bhushan ( Rank 954) from Reasi, Afaq Ahmed Giri (Rank 585)  from Banihal, Abhishek Mahajan (Rank 366)  from Jammu, Shakeel Maqbool ( Rank 633), Abid Hussain Sadiq (Rank 27), Bashir Ahmed Bhat (Rank 189) and Raja Yaqoob Farooq (Rank 274), all from Kashmir. Abid Hussain is already working  as Assistant Commissioner  in Revenue Department.
