Baseer for timely supply of food grains

JAMMU, June 12: Emphasizing quality food grains supply to consumers with proper monitoring and check so as to bridge the gap between demand and supply scenario, Secretary to Government, CA&PD Department, Baseer Ahmed Khan asserted that there is no compromise when it comes to providing essential commodities to public at their doorsteps.
Reviewing the functioning of CA&PD Department in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch district in a meeting convened here today, Mr Khan said that the gap between demand and supply mostly pertaining to non-availability of food grains in certain areas and substantial delay in distribution needs to be bridged.
He stressed for bringing transparency and accountability in the functioning of the department for which factors responsible for delay have to be identified and rectified at once. He asked the concerned officers and field functionaries to intensify their efforts for which series of instructions have already been issued to ensure that common masses do not suffer. He warned the officers of adopting callous and sluggish attitude towards public grievances which need to be redressed on spot.
He directed the Assistant Directors and TSOs to maintain diaries to incorporate day wise distribution and stock position besides daily roaster for induction and also regular reviews need to be conducted for monitoring the situation at ground level and evaluating the performance of the respective district.
The Secretary asked the officers to implement the guidelines and instructions issued by the Government from time to time which should be visible on ground. Assistant Directors were directed to make frequent visits to fair price shops and ration outlets for on spot monitoring of supply position as they should be well aware of the factual position.
During the meeting officers were asked to render timely accounts of sale proceeds of food grains, sugar, remittances on account of sale proceeds of ration cards duly reconciled with the treasures. Secretary enquired about the mode of interaction with public so as to assess their grievances and redressal thereof.
On the occasion, Director CA&PD Department, G S Chib presented a detailed resume of the performance of Jammu division.
