JAMMU, June 13: The executive members of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) in a meeting held today expressed satisfaction over Narendra Modi-led Central Government’s initiative with regard to return of Kashmiri Pandits.
Terming the move a step forward in permanent rehabilitation of the displaced community, the Sabha members said that it is for the first time any Government-Central or State, is concerned about the return of Kashmiri Pandits since their forced exodus from the valley way back in 1989 by the Pan Islamic forces.
The members were exuberant that the new Govt has shown urgency with caution to solve this vexed issue.
President of the Sabha, K K Khosa while deliberating on the issue said that the Sabha has satisfaction that its proposal submitted to the Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs, Govt of India on their visit to Jammu in November, 2013 for creation of three composite and integrated townships in three erstwhile District Headquarters in Valley situated on National Highway for the displaced, is being mooted as a possible road map for the return alongwith other political, economic and social initiatives.
The Sabha has decided to take a lead in building consensus in the community on vital issues in collaboration with the like minded groups in framing a comprehensive politically and socially vible solution for this vexed issue.
However, the Sabha members took a strong exception to the statement of Mr Geelani and castigated him for being an obstructionist for the return of the displaced.
Later, the members [participated in a prayer meeting for eminent writer and thinker, PK Joseph Dhar, who left his mortal remains a day before.
