Murder bid foiled, notorious criminal held with ‘khokri’

JAMMU, June 13: Police today foiled a murder bid by arresting a notorious criminal along with sharp-edged weapon ‘Khokri’ from Shastri Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka near cremation ground at Shastri Nagar and intercepted a pedestrian moving under mysterious circumstances.
On seeing the police team, the person tried to flee from the spot, but was chased and nabbed him by the active cops.
During checking, police recovered sharp-edged weapon ‘khokri’ and arrested the criminal, who has been identified as Babber Choudhary alias Babber, son of Sayed Ali, a resident of Chack Mohammad Yaar, RS Pura.
The accused was heading to murder a person, with whom he had some enmity, which was foiled by the active cops of Gandhi Nagar police station.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the arrested criminal was involved in various cases registered with Channi Himmat, RS Pura, Gangyal and Satwari police stations. Four cases already stand registered against the accused at Gandhi Nagar police station.
A case under FIR number 120/14 under Section 4/25 Arms Act has been registered a Gandhi Nagar police station and further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team headed by SHO Gandhi Nagar police station Manzoor Ahmed Kohli made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Atul Goel.
