College teachers apprise Lone of their demands

JAMMU, June 14: A joint delegation of College Teachers Association led by president Jammu wing Dr Sanjay Verma and president Srinagar Wing Dr Tariq Ashai called on Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone at Srinagar and submitted a memorandum of demands to him.
The meeting was held in the presence of Secretary Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh and Deputy Secretary Higher Education Anil Salgotra.
The CTA suggested that SRO-124 should be implemented in the manner as was done by the UGC in implementing the Sixth Pay Commission on the recommendations of MHRD vide Notification No,1-32/2006-U.II/U.I(i). Other issues raised during the meeting, included issuance of order of placement of teachers in different higher grade, enhancement of the age of superannuation to 65 years at par with university teachers, creation of post of professor in colleges, extending the benefit of SRO-222 to the college teachers, changing the nomenclature of PTI in colleges as per UGC norms etc.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured a positive consideration to all the issues.
