JMC conducts sanitation drive in old city

JAMMU, June 14:  Jammu Municipal Corporation today conducted sanitation drive in Ward No 1, 2 and 3 covering many areas including Panjtirthi, Link Road, Fattu Chowgan, Peer Mitha, Jhullaka Mohalla, Kachi Chawani, Pacca Danga and Parade.
The drive was led by Kiran Wattal, Municipal Commissioner, Jammu and the staff members from the Health, Veterinary, Engineering, Khilafwarzi wing etc, were also present.
On spot checking of milk was done and 10 cans of milk was seized which was not conforming to the prescribed quality standard. Besides, 10 kg of sweets was compounded and various eateries dispensing food items were inspected and those having no valid licenses were warned to comply to the provisions of Municipal Act and FSS Act.
The attendance of the SKCs was checked and they were advised to perform their duties with dedication and punctuality.
The engineering work undertaken by the Corporation was also inspected in the areas of Purani Mandi and Panjtirthi. The instructions were given to Engineering staff for carrying out repair work etc, to tide over the difficulties being faced by the public in some areas especially on account of sewerage work done by the NBCC/ERA.
During the drive, Khilafwarzi team also removed the unauthorized encroachers who encroached upon the footpath or pavements, causing hurdles to free flow of vehicular traffic.
Joint Commissioner, Kapil Sharma, Secretary, Health Officer, Executive Engineers, Khilafwarzi Officers and other staff members of JMC also accompanied during the drive.
