Several initiatives undertaken for youth empowerment: Sagar

SRINAGAR, June 14: Maintaining that the Government has undertaken several programmes for imparting training to the youth of the State, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the by doing so they are being provided with technical skills to ensure their proper empowerment and  absorption  in private and public sector
The Minister was speaking at a function organized by the Technical Education Department to award certificates to the 212 youth, who have been provided technical skills under Skill Development Initiative (SDI) undertaken by the Government.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, G. M. Dar, Principal ITI, Srinagar, M. A Wani, representatives of hotel and tourism industry were also present on the occasion.
Mr. Sagar said that the Government under the SDI has imparted training to about 16000 youth of the State, who have been absorbed in different industries like Hotel, Automobile, Electrical, etc. He said besides this they can also start their own units and contribute their bit in providing job opportunities to other similarly placed youth, which would go a long way in ensuring that the human resource is properly channelized and employment avenues are generated.
Mr. Sagar said that it has been the endeavour of the Government right from the start that the proper and requisite empowerment of youth is done, so that they can contribute their bit in nation building and bring laurels to their respective areas and State as a whole. He said that role of youth is imperative in making our State economically vibrant, prosperous and peaceful.
While asking the youth to come forward and avail maximum benefit of these initiatives undertaken by the Government for their empowerment, the Minister said that by doing so they would be ensuring that their skills are honed in a proper manner and are accordingly channelized. He said that besides the Government has introduced several other schemes like HIMAYAT, UDAAN, SKEWPY which would also ensure that the youth are imparted with technical skills so that they can be absorbed in various multinational companies and private/public sectors in the State.
The Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and Additional Deputy Commissioner also spoke on the occasion and gave a brief overview of the initiatives undertaken by the Government for imparting skills to the youth.
