RAJOURI, Mar 31: In a humanitarian effort to support underprivileged communities, Indian Army at Samote distributed blankets among Gujjars and Bakkarwals at Kesri Hill in Rajouri.
The Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities known for their nomadic lifestyle often endure extreme cold conditions during transhumance. This welfare initiative aims to provide relief to the residents facing harsh weather conditions, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
By extending a helping hand, the Army seeks to ease their hardships and reaffirm its commitment to their welfare. Such efforts strengthen the deep-rooted bond between the Indian Army and local communities, fostering trust, cooperation and mutual respect while encouraging social harmony and inclusivity.
A defence spokesman said that Indian Army remains committed to the welfare and upliftment of marginalised communities. By distributing blankets among Gujjar and Bakkarwal families, the Army seeks to alleviate hardships and ensure their well-being. This initiative not only provides much needed assistance but also reinforces trust and cooperation between the Indian Army and the local communities.
A total of 25 people availed the benefit of distribution of blankets. Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent locals thanked and expressed their profound gratitude towards the Indian Army for distribution of blankets to the poor and needy at Kesri Hill.
