Students protest against shortage of staff, infrastructure

UDHAMPUR, June 16: The students of Government Higher Secondary School Pancheri and locals protested against shortage of staff and no boundary wall of the school.
The protesters alleged that the students were facing innumerable problems in getting their syllabi completed due to staff shortage. There is no proper sitting arrangement in the school which also lacks boundary wall, said Sarpanch Baldev Singh.
According to ZEO Pancheri Pawan Singh Slathia, the zone has a total of 176 Schools with required staff strength 582 but only 362 teachers were available.  143 of them are temporary ReTs, 152  regular ReTs and 67 are general line teachers, he added.
The District Development Commissioner Yasha Mudgal admitted that many schools in the district were facing the problem of boundary walls. Nearly 220 kilometers of boundary wall is required  for covering all the schools in the district and the matter has been taken up with Director School Education, she added.
