UDHAMPUR, June 17: Infuriated over power failure in Garhi Rehambal, the residents of five villages of Panchayati Lower Rehmbal held a demonstration at Jib Morh and blocked the National Highway, last night.
The protesting villagers raised slogans against the PDD and disrupted vehicular movement on the road.
They lamented that their power was off for the last three days but the concerned PDD authorities were not taking any action to restore the supply. Over a strong crowd of over 1000 people including men and children squatted on the road and the protest continued for the entire night.
Later on the intervention of SHO Rehmbal the dharna was lifted with an assurance that the power supply would be restored within 12 hours.
However, according to XEn PDD, the line has major fault and power supply would be resumed after one week.
