SRINAGAR, June 18: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today paid surprise visit to Sub District Hospital, Surankote, Poonch and reviewed its functioning.
The Minister expressed his displeasure that the patients were not being prescribed medicine from within the hospital stocks but the brands from open market. He directed that the patients be provided medicines from the stocks available with the hospital.
The Minister directed discouraging the trend of indiscriminate referrals which he said should be done on case to case basis. He said the hospital should take the cases which the facilities and manpower allow and refer only those cases which are highly critical.
Mr. Taj also expressed dismay over the non availability of surgical facilities and keeping the operation theatre at the hospital non functional. He directed the Director Health Services to immediately set up the Boyel’s Operator at the hospital so that surgeries can be conducted at the hospital.
The Minister directed immediate transfer of the concerned Block Medical Officer.
