Sir,
This has reference to the news item regarding the retirement age of the Govt employees which has been enhanced from 58 years to 60 years irrespective of any category. Simultaneously, the Govt. have also enhanced the qualifying age of unemployed youth for the Govt. jobs from 37 to 40 years in case of the General Category candidates from 40 to 43 years in case of the reserved category candidates and from 39 to 42 years in case of the physically challenged candidates.
One fails to understand the motive of the Govt to keep three type of ages for different categories of unemployed youths in order to qualify them for entry into Govt. jobs, when the retirement age is the same for all categories of employees. Constitution of India provides equal opportunity to all the citizens of India. It is not understood as to why discrimination has been done with the General as well as the physically challenged category candidates in the instant case.
The children belonging to every category may they belong to General Category, Reserved Category or Physically Challenged category, get admission in Govt. schools at the age of 5. Under SSA and various other Centrally Sponsored Schemes we have primary school within a radius of one km. Right to Education for all category of the students is now applicable up to Upper Primary Level, i.e. up to the age of 14. The un-employment seems to be higher in case of General Category candidates when compared to the Reserved Category Candidates.
Keeping in view the argument as mentioned above, the logic to discriminate with the General and the Physically Challenged category candidates is irrational and unjustified. It is as such hoped that our young Chief Minister will have a second thought on this sensitive issue and issue orders for uniform upper age limit of 43 years for all category of candidates.
Yours etc….
