JE PMGSY caught red handed taking graft

Jammu, June 24: A Junior Engineer in PMGSY Division Billawar was today caught red handed by Vigilance squad while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
A special squad of Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) under the supervision of SSP Nisha Nathyal caught and arrested Mohammad Younis, Junior Engineer PMGSY Division Billawar while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a contractor in the presence of independent witnesses.
The accused JE was demanding Rs 1 lakh as bribe for preparation of pending bills amounting to Rs 15 lakh for the work namely construction of road from Ther to Ghat in Billawar, Kathua executed by the complainant. The total cost of construction of the road was Rs 50 lakh out of which Rs 35 lakh have already been released to the contractor.
The tainted money was recovered from possession of the accused who was taken into custody for further investigation.
The trap team was led by V K Bhat, DySP and assisted by Inspector Muneer Ahmad Khan and Inspector Devinder Singh.
