Udhampur, June 25: One-day awareness programme on financial inclusion was organized by Manohar Lal, AGM (DD), NABARD, Udhampur at village Bain, block Chenani in Udhampur, today.
DDM, NABARD informed that a large number of households in the country are yet to be covered under banking fold. Similarly, many such households in the State of Jammu and Kashmir are yet to be linked with the banks. It was envisaged to provide access to financial services including credit to all such households.
He informed the participants that the Government of India has initiated the process of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under which most of the subsidies would be given in cash and would be transferred in the bank accounts of the heads of respective families. Therefore, all rural households must have a saving account with the banks. They were informed that such savings kept at home as idle funds lose their value in view of the inflation.
DDM also gave an account of the various types of bank accounts such as Savings Bank Accounts, Recurring Deposit, Fixed Deposit, etc. He informed about various schemes being implemented by NABARD that include Kissan Credit Cards, SHGs, Farmers Clubs, Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme, IDSRR, Poultry Venture Capital Fund, etc. Apart from this they were also educated about remittance of funds, insurance products, etc. They were encouraged to avail the micro insurance scheme.
The programme was attended by Rakesh Anthal, Sarpanch, Kumar Vivek Shahi, Project Manager, Actech Agro Pvt Ltd, Shyam Sharma, Field Officer, JCC Bank, Chenani, member of PRIs, and farmers / residents of village.
