This refers to the article “12500 J&K youth to be selected by Corporate Houses this year” published in Daily Excelsior dated June 19, 2014 by Nishikant Khajuria.
It is an applauding news that NSDC and Union Home Ministry has made much awaited amendments in selection procedure of UDAAN scheme for checking the drop out cases in training courses and filling up of vacant seats. With new guidelines involving the preparation of waiting lists of the candidates, base widening and increasing the conversion phase, this flagship scheme with get a definite boost in coming future which is a welcoming step for the unemployed youth of J&K State. However, restricting the candidates to choose only one corporate job will rob the candidates of their options and genuine preferences. The general mass may lose their interest in this scheme. This may mar their career growth and candidates will be left confused. Therefore, no restrictions should be applied on the number of attempts each candidate takes. Any restriction will hinder the overall participation in the scheme and can even derail the essential objective of bringing J&K youth into national mainstream. Sincere efforts should be made to implement the scheme in letter and spirit.
