JAMMU, June 26: Claiming that the National Conference -Congress Government has lost the people’s confidence, Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party today said except indulging in “deceit tactics” this coalition regime has done nothing to address grievances of the people during its nearly six years’ rule.
“The NC-led Government has nothing to highlight as its achievement… Except indulging in deceit tactics, this regime has done nothing to address grievances of the people during the last nearly six years,” PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said at a rally at Gool in Ramban district.
He regretted that instead of addressing grievances of the people, this Government brazenly participated in photo sessions to get cheap publicity and just to befool the people.
“Some of noticeable achievements of this Government are legalising corruption, undermining democratic institutions, stifling dissent voices and hoodwinking people by making false promises,” he said, and added that coffers of the state were empty due to the prevailing financial mismanagement.
The PDP patron said due to lack of transparency and accountability, the state has been pushed into a virtual whirlpool of corruption, maladministration and despair.
He said the development process was almost paralysed while major initiatives taken by the previous PDP-led Coalition Government have been almost abandoned.
“The Prime Minister’s reconstruction programme is also in disarray and various Centre-sponsored projects could not take off due to failure of the state government to give matching grants,” he said.
“While as crores and crores of rupees were spent to provide luxuries to the ministers and leaders of ruling coalition, the Government does not have money to provide matching grants to start various central sponsored welfare schemes in the State”, he said and added that poor and needy people were the worst victim of the wrong policies being adopted by this Government.
Taking a dig at leaders of ruling National Conference for speaking different language, he said that NC leaders were trying to hoodwink the people by speaking such language. “Gone are the days when NC leaders used to be-fool the people by such deceit tactics”, he said and added that NC leaders cannot hoodwink the people any more.
He mentioned that results of the recently held Lok Sabha elections were a clear indication that people of Jammu,  Kashmir and Ladakh have rejected coalition parties for their misdeeds.Reaffirming commitment of his party to aggressively pursue the agenda of reconciliation and development in the State, Mufti asserted that his party, with the support of the masses, wouldn’t allow the peace process to be derailed.
Highlighting problems of the unemployed youth, Mufti said that present Government had betrayed educated unemployed youth of the State. He reminded that National Conference during 2008 Assembly elections had promised to formulate a comprehensive policy to create job avenues for youth but the promise remained only on papers. Mufti reiterated his commitment that his party would formulated a policy exclusive for the educated unemployed youth.
Appreciating picturesque beauty of Gool and adjoining localities, Mufti said that this mountainous regime has huge tourism potential, which needed to be explored. He also emphasized on strengthening road network in this region.
Responding to the demand of the local, Mufti promised to make Development Authority for this region to bring this backward and neglected belt on development map.
Yash Pal Sharma, MLC, Choudhary Zulfikar, MLA, Basharat Bukhari, MLA were among others who spoke on the occasion.
