Sagar for ensuring adequate supply of essentials during Ramzan

SRINAGAR, June 26: The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Ali Mohammad Sagar has directed the officers to coordinate their efforts to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience with respect to essential supplies during the holy month of Ramzan.
The Minister was addressing the officers at a review meeting convened to discuss the availability of essentials and other related things during the ensuing holy month of Ramzan.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shalinder Kumar, IG, Police, A. G. Mir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Director CA&PD, Bashir Ahmed Khan, DIG, Traffic, Jagjit Kumar, SE PDD, Joint Commissioner Municipality, Bashir Ahmed and other senior officers of UEED, PHE, Health and R&B Departments.
Mr. Sagar directed the Director CA&PD to ensure that the adequate supply of ration and other related items are provided to the consumers during the month. He was told that sufficient quantity of food grains have already been dispatched to different districts and necessary instructions have been passed down the line to ensure its equitable distribution among the rationees of different areas of Kashmir division.
Mr. Sagar also asked the officers to create special squads for conducting regular market checks so that black marketing and hoarding is checked. He said that the officers of different department should work in close coordination to ensure that necessary action is initiated against the persons found involved in these practises.
While asking the officers to work out a comprehensive mechanism to ensure better traffic mobility in the city, the Minister directed for ensuring hassle free movement of the traffic so that the people do not get caught up in the traffic jams. He said that traffic police should ensure that the violators of the rules should not go scot free and work out a fool-proof strategy to ensure that the vehicles coming in the city from various areas of the division are properly regulated.
Mr. Sagar also asked the SMC to ensure proper cleanliness in and around the city and conduct special drive for the same and also work in coordination with the PDD to ensure proper maintenance and functioning of the street lights. He also directed the PHE to provide adequate supply of potable water to the people.
The Minister also directed the Waqaf Authorities to ensure the proper upkeep of the different shrines and masques in the division for the general convenience of the devotees coming to pay their obeisance.
