Srinagar, June 26: Authorities today sealed a band saw and nine joinery mills at several places in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
A team of Forest Department headed by DFO Anantnag Tawheed Ahmad Deva inspected a band Saw mill and nine joinery mills in different places at Kokernag area. These mills were running without licenses and were sealed.
The band saw at Bidder belonged to Nazir Hussain Rather and the joinery mills belonged to Irshad Ahmad Malik, Buchoo, Kokernag, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Danvethpora, Mohammad Yaqoob Wani, Danvethpora, Abdul Rehman Wan, Hangal Gund, Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Bidder, Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Narawpora, Watanaar, Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Hakura, Mohammad Shafi Mir, Hakura and Reyaz Ahmad, Naidpora, Kokernag. However, residents of these areas said that these mills were running with the active connivance of the forest officials for long time now.
