MENDHAR, June 27: Harni town today observed shutdown over the dilapidated condition of the main road of the market.
Large number of shopkeepers of Harni Town under the banner of Beopar Mandal assembled at main bazaar and raised slogans against PWD R&B, Sub Division Mendhar and PHE Sub-Division Mendhar for their lethargic approach to repair the dilapidated road.
The protestors led by Retd Naib Tehsildar Subash Sawhney and President, Beopar Mandal, Harni Town Nisar Khan also burnt the tyres to express their anguish and also suspended the vehicular movement on the Mendhar-Harni town road.
While speaking, Subash Sawhney said that the road of Main Bazaar Harni town is in deplorable condition for the past over six months and the concerned departments are not paying any heed towards the same.
Due to the bad condition of the road, not only the business community, but the pedestrians including students have to face manifold problems, he added.
He said that the officials of the aforesaid departments were also made aware about the condition of the road several times, but their casual approach has forced them to come on roads.
On getting information, Naib Tehsildar Harni Mohammad Kabir and SHO police station Gorsai Inspector Sadakat Malik rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protestors, but failed.
They took up the matter with SDM Mendhar Ramesh Kumar, who directed the concerned officials to redress the issues of the people at the earliest.
