JMC officers in Vigilance net

JAMMU, June 30: State Vigilance Organization has booked officers and officials of the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
According to the Vigilance spokesman, verification into the allegations of allowing construction of unauthorized commercial structure within a residential area by the officers and officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation revealed that one Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Talab Tillo was granted permission for construction of a residential building.
However, Ravinder Kumar raised three storey commercial building with basement in violation of the permission. It also came to fore during the verification that the officers and officials of JMC particularly Babu Ram, the then Joint Commissioner, who were required to conduct periodic inspections as per Municipal Act and Bye-Laws, willfully turned blind eye and maintained criminal silence towards blatant violations of sanctioned permission and master plan.
“The omissions and commissions on the part of all these public servants and the beneficiary constitute offences punishable under Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B RPC”, the spokesman said, adding a case FIR has been registered against the erring JMC officials and further investigation started.
