Complicated system of verification leaves pensioners in lurch: SPA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 2: J&K State Pensioners Association (SPA) while criticizing the authorities of the State Finance Department and the Jammu and Kashmir Bank for making the system of annual physical verification of State Pensioners complicated, said the system has left the poor pensioners in the lurch and there is urgent need to simplify it.
SPA president, Krishan Singh said that State Government appears to be quite insensitive towards the multiple problems being faced by the pensioners, most of whom are aged and infirm.
He said the process of annual physical verification of the pensioners has been started without proper publicity as a result most of them are unaware of the same.
He further said that J&K Bank also has devised two formats to be signed by the pensioners and one of which is a life certificate to be got signed from a Patwari/DTO/TO or Gazetted Officer and the Bank officials are of the view that they do it on the instructions of RBI.
Mr Singh urged upon the concerned authorities of the Department of Finance and the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to redress their problems at an earliest to save pensioners from miseries and hardships.
Meanwhile, Leader of All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation, Abdul Majid Khan has expressed solidarity with SPA in this regard.
