Court awards one year RI to bus driver for killing two

Jammu, July 2: Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh today awarded one year rigorous imprisonment to Suresh Kumar S/o Raghbir Singh a bus driver in accident case in which two pillion rider died due to his rash driving, after 10 years trial.
According to the police case that on June 25, 2004 an information was received by P/S Kanachak Jammu to effect that a bus bearing registration No 45445/JK02N in a rash and negligent manner from Jammu to Akhnoor and at a place namely Bawa on the highway hit a scooter which was coming from opposite side as consequence of which two boys riding on scooter namely Ranjeet Singh and Sukhwinder Singh died on spot and one person namely Santosh received injuries. After completion of investigation, final report was presented before the Court of law.
Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Mr Amarjeet Singh Langeh after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer Jatinder Anand for the State observed that the road traffic accidents are alarming on rise now-a-days and it is therefore befitting that an appropriate punishment which would work as an eye-opener for the persons who are not careful while driving vehicles on road, is inflicted on accused in such cases. What needs to be appreciated is that negligence of one shatters and the tranquility of collective. When occurrence likes one at hands, it has the potentiality of making victims in many a layer and creating concavity in the social fabric. With these observations court awarded one year’s rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 2000 to bus driver namely Suresh Kumar.
