Rly Budget proposes massive pvt investment in infrastructure

NEW DELHI : The first Railway Budget of the Modi government today envisioned massive private investment in Railway infrastructure and indicated that some hard decisions were needed to bring back the largest public utility back on track. Presenting the Budget in the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said sometimes bitter medicine was needed in the interest of the organisation.
He said the emphasis will be on the PPP mode for starting new infrastructure projects and completing new one. He said his aim was to improve safety and passenger amenities.
