SKUAST organizes Scientific Advisory Panel meet

BHADERWAH, July 9: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Doda organized 7th Scientific Advisory Committee meet today at Bhaderwah under the chairmanship of Prof. P.K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Amit Jasrotia, Scientist Incharge, RHRSS, Bhaderwah.  The inaugural address was presented by Dr. K. S. Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu.
Dr. P.K. Sharma, (VC) while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the scientific community to preserve the local germplasm like Bhaderwahi Rajmash, and work for improving  the local germplasm. He suggested that KVK should work in synergism with the department people for better extension activities. He gave thrust on off-season vegetable production in Doda district. Dr. V.K. Wali, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu suggested that technologies available on walnut and olive cultivation should be taken up. The pre-harvest fruit drop in apple should also be included in the action plan.
The annual progress report of the KVK, Doda was presented by Dr. R.S. Bandral, Programme Coordinator. A detailed discussion was held on the action plan 2014-15 with the scientists, agricultural and allied dept officials as well as with the progressive farmers.
