JAMMU, July 9: Patnitop police today recovered large quantity of illicit liquor and arrested two persons.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police party from Patnitop police post laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03C-7040 loaded with Onions, which was on its way to Anantnag from Punjab.
During checking, police recovered 336 boxes of illicit liquor, which were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Two persons namely Showkat Ahmed, son of Mohammad Rayaz of Hakora, tehsil Dooru, district Anantnag along with driver of truck namely Wakeel Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Larkipura, tehsil Dooru, district Anantnag have been arrested.
A case under FIR number 65/14 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Batote police station and investigation started.
Police team headed by SI Mohammed Irfan, Incharge Police Post Patnitop made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Police Station Batote, DySP Headquarters Ramban and SSP Ramban Javeed Iqbal Mattoo.
