IT notice vindictiveness: Sonia

NEW DELHI, July 9:

Admitting that the Congress has received  a notice from the Income Tax Department on the National Herald  case, party president Sonia Gandhi termed it as ‘political  vindictiveness’ which would only enable their party to return to  power faster.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Ms Gandhi, admitting that the party has received an IT notice in the case, said, “Yes, we have been issued notices by the Income Tax Department.”    She said the IT notice on the National Herald case was out of  political vindictiveness.
Terming it as a ‘witch hunt’, she said, “Political witch hunt will only enable us come to power faster.” Recent reports said the Congress was sent IT notice over the  National Herald case.
The notice to Congress questioned as to why exemption given to it, should not be withdrawn.
Earlier, a court in Delhi had sent summon to Ms Gandhi and  party vice-president Rahul Gandhi to appear before it on July 9  in connection with the case filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.
In his complaint, Mr Swamy alleged that the Gandhis formed a company, Young India, in 2010 with 38 per cent share each to take control of Rs 2,000 crore worth of assets of Associated Journals Ltd, which published the National Herald. (UNI)
