Vakil’s demise widely mourned

JAMMU, July 10: The death of former Speaker of State Assembly and a veteran NC leader, Abdul Ahad Vakil has been widely mourned. The Council of Ministers has expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of former Speaker, Abdul Ahad Vakil, who passed away yesterday.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister for Finance & Ladakh Affairs,  A. R. Rather, Minister for  Public Enterprises, Haj, Auqaf and Floriculture, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats,  Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Minister for Health & Medical Education,  Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies,  Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control,  Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Agriculture Production,  Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Public Grievances, Sakina Itoo, Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services & Sports,  Raman Bhalla, Minister for Higher Education,  Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Minister for Planning & Development, Labour & Employment,  Ajay Sadhotra, Minister for Tourism,  Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Minister for R&B and Mechanical Engineering,  Abdul Majid Wani and Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs,  Mir Saifullah in their joint message have expressed condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation,  Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperative, Printing & Stationery and Elections, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma,  Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, Minister of State for Science & Technology and Information Technology,  Feroz Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for Animal & Sheep Husbandry,  Nazir Ahmad Gurezi and Minister of State for Technical Education and  Vikar Rasool Wani have also expressed their condolence over the demise of Vakil.
Former Chief Minister and PDP patron, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and party president Mehbooba Mufti, while condoling the demise of Mr Vakil termed him a seasoned politician who during his active politics remained committed to the up-liftment of downtrodden section of the society. The leaders also conveyed their deep sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for everlasting peace of the departed soul.
Congress State president and MP Prof-Saif-ud-Din Soz has also expressed his deepest anguish over the demise of veteran NC leader, Abdul Ahad Vakil. In his condolence message, Prof Soz said the demise of Mr Vakil  is not only a loss to NC but to the entire political system of the State. Terming Mr Vakil a sound politician with clear understanding PCC chief said over a period of time he did make contribution to the evolution of NC as a mainstream political organization.
Minister of Higher Education, Mohammed Akbar Lone has expressed his grief over the demise of veteran political leader and former Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Vakil.
Calling him a towering leader and eminent social worker, who contributed a lot for upliftment and welfare of the people, Mr Lone said his role in the development and prosperity of State will be remembered for ever in the history of J&K. He said Mr Vakil was close associate of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
Expressing his deep shock and grief over the death of Mr Vakil, CPI (M) State secretary and MLA, Kulgam, Mohammed Yousf Tarigami has termed the demise of Mr Vakil an irreparable loss for the State.
While recollecting his commendable role as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the CPI (M) leader observed that Mr Vakil would provide an ample opportunity to the opposition so that they could give vent to their feelings and raise the issue of public importance.
