Bhalla asks PDD to avoid unscheduled power cuts

JAMMU, July 10: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today asked the Power Development Department officers to ensure uninterrupted and improved power supply to the people so that people do not face any inconvenience during summer months.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Narwal Bala after kick starting upgradation work of Narwal Bala-Karayani Talab link road, here today.
Mr. Bhalla exhorted upon the officers to ensure that the damaged transformers are repaired timely. He asked them to gear up their men and machinery in mitigating the power supply related issues of the people, adding that Government is committed to provide improved power supply to the people across the State. He also directed them to avoid unscheduled power cuts. He directed the officers to provide the information about the damaged transformers on a daily basis so that the requisite monitoring of the same can be ensured and repaired.
The Minister said that Government has approved a plan involving Rs. 700 crore under Restructured-Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (R-APDRP) to improve power infrastructure within the municipal limit areas of the Jammu city and eleven towns of Akhnoor, Bhaderwah, Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, R. S. Pura, Samba and Udhampur to benefit power consumers on account of power supply and distribution. He said for this purpose Power Development Department (PDD) is on the job and gear up their men and machinery to upgrade the power scenario in these areas.
The Minister informed that Government was working towards ensuring overall development in every nook and corner of the State, adding that to meet this objective, various projects have been launched across the State under PDD, PHE, UEED, R&B, Health and Education.
Mr. Bhalla said on the blacktopping of Narwal Bala-Karayani Talab link road, Government has provided motorable road to the Narwal, Sunjwan, Karayani Talab and Bathindi people.
The Minister directed the concerned higher ups to personally monitor the quality of execution of the work, adding that there should be no compromise on quality. He said that Government is committed to create durable assets in the State under core sectors for this purpose there was no constraint of funds.
Responding to locals demand, Mr. Bhalla informed that Government has sanctioned Rs. 50 lakh for construction of wrestling stadium at Doongian in Bathindi, adding that the project is under progress and would be completed within stipulated time frame.
Regarding development of recreational garden at Doongian, the Minister said Government has released Rs. 20 lakh for construction of Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC) by Forest Department on 12 hectare available land in the area, adding that the place would be dedicated to the people within two years.
