Searches for militants in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 10: Security forces today conducted searches at three different places in North and South Kashmir against the militants.
Security forces conducted searches in Shopian’s Dubjan area on Mughal Road after reports that few militants are hiding in the forest area there. However, no one was arrested.
In Sopore town of North Kashmir troops conducted a search operation following reports of presence of militants.
Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) cordoned off Model Town locality Sopore last evening and started a search operation. The troops continued search operation today.
However, no one was detained or arrested by troops and the cordon was lifted in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, a day after killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant in Hamla village of Handwara in Kupwara district, Army and SOG continued searches for other militants, who reportedly gave slip to them during the gunfight.
They said additional reinforcements of forces were sent to the area including army’s 31RR Para troopers, 21 RR and 30 RR.
