LPEF expresses disappointment over General Budget

JAMMU, July 11: Expressing disappointment over General Budget and Railway Budget of Union Government, All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) has described them as continuation of economic policies of previous Governments.
In a statement, LPEF president, Abdul Majid Khan said that NDA Government’s Railway and General Budget may be beneficial for privileged classes while as in respect of working classes and toiling masses mere window dressing has been proposed.
He said proposed increase of Income Tax exemption limit do not conform to the hike in the cost of living index. Moreover, vital issues like growing unemployment, spiraling prices of essential commodities are left untouched in the General Budget, he added.
He further said that numerous amenities and facilities have been proposed in the Union Budget for super rich, multinational companies and foreign investors while as salaried class and poorer sections have been left to suffer further.
“In these circumstances, we strongly urge upon the J&K Government to immediately release 10% DA installment from January 2014 and balance amount of 6th CPC arrears due from April 2014 in favour of State employees and pensioners in order to relieve them from undue miseries”, he added.
