Sham lays foundation stone of model village

AKHNOOR, July 15: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma today laid foundation of model village, Bharda Kalan in Akhnoor under cluster area approach of Border Area Development Project (BADP) coming up at a cost of Rs.  1.67 crore.
The model village project will include creation of modern infrastructure and after completion will have facilities of shopping complex, blacktopping of lanes and roads, Rural Community Sanitary Complex, better lanes and drain facilities, augmentation of drinking water supply, passenger shed, compound wall to existing community hall, community hall, provision for kitchen/bathroom to existing community hall, provision for solar light and various other developmental infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone, the Minister said that aim of developing the model village is to improve the socio-economic condition of the locals through development of social infrastructure and ensure need based development in the area. He said the model village project aims  to improve living conditions in the remote and backward areas by creating civic infrastructure on modern lines, besides making available facilities required for promotion of local economy and employment.
Assuring the people all round development of far flung and border areas, the Minister said that the Government is steadfast on its commitment for inclusive development and to take the development revolution into every nook and corner of the State. He appealed to the people to extend their full support to the Government so that the benefits of developmental and welfare schemes initiated across the State reach to the people well in time.
