Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Dental surgeons continue dharna for 13th consecutive day’ DE July 14.
The dharna by dental surgeons demonstrates that the State Government has failed to absorb these youths in Health Department despite the fact that there are ample opportunities for them in healthcare sector.
A cursory look around our PHCs will reveal that most of them do not have the posts of dental surgeons.
The presence of a dental surgeon in a health centre is as important as the presence of a physician. Most of dental clinics whether public or private exist only in towns and cities of the State. They hardly have their presence in rural areas. The people from these areas usually visit towns and cities to get treatment which is an ardous, exercise. The Government must create posts of dental surgeons in rural areas so that the unemployed surgeons could be accommodated there.
It is quite unfortunate that the dental surgeons have to come on streets time and again to redress their grievances.
Yours etc….
