JAMMU, July 17: Prominent social organizations, including Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Central Mahajan Sabha and Amar Kashatrya Rajput Sabha have demanded enforcement of Guest Control Act to rein in the culture of organizing big marriage parties.
A joint meeting of various Sabha and other social organizations was held under the chairmanship of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha president V P Sharma wherein the prevailing social evils like the culture of organizing big marriage parties, dowry, drug ediction etc were discussed.
The meet unanimously resolved that enactment of Guest Control Act should be implemented forcibly by the concerned authorities for the welfare of general masses. All the participants pledged not to violate provisions of the Act.
Those who attended the meeting, included president Central Mahajan Sabha Vinod Gupta, president of Amar Kashatrya Rajput Sabha Narayan Singh, general secretary Bishan Singh Jasrotia, Jagdish Dogra (president of Sanatan Dharm Sabha), Jagdish Sharma (general secretary of Sanatan Dharma Sabha), Y V Sharma (ex-president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries), Khem Raj Sharma (president Brahman Sabha Sainik Colony), Om Parkash Sharma, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Satya Nand Sharma, P C Sharma, Shiv Charan Dass, Jagan Nath Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Jeewa Nand Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Kishore Sharma, Mohan Lal Sharma and Sham Lal Misra.
