JAMMU, July 14: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association discussed the demands of the community, presented an award of appreciation to a community girl for obtaining 10th position in the Secondary School Examination, 2012, as well as nominated Capt Kamal Chand Kaith as president for tehsil Akhnoor.
While addressing a press conference, association president, ex MLA Sat Pal Lakhotra and chief advisor Lt Col (retd) Manohar. All Kaith highlighted their demands wherein they urged the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to grant an economic package in favour of the Batwal community on the basis of its survey report in which a study was launched to assess their socio, economic and cultural life in the J&K State.
Members alleged that development works at Shahzadpur Maratta, as proposed last year have not till date been taken up for execution by the Block Development Officer, Marh, despite instructions of District Development Commissioner, Jammu and urged the Government for early redressal of their grievances.
It was also stressed that necessary action be taken on the memorandum dated 7-02-2012 submitted to the Chief Minister’s office and urged for his personal attention for resolution of their genuine grievances.
