Minority Cell endorses Govt steps on return of migrants

JAMMU, July 14: National Conference (NC) Minority Cell held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of Vijay Bakaya, MLC, president and patron of the Cell.
The meeting expressed confidence over the steps taken by the Coalition Government headed by Omar Abdullah for return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Kashmir valley.
Addressing the meeting Mr Bakaya said that Chief Minister and Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla have made sincere efforts in submitting the revised package to Center for the rehabilitation of Pandits in Kashmir.
The meeting also termed the statement of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah taking on Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani to task and snubbing him for his statement opposing the return of Pandits a big step towards confidence building measure among the displaced community.
Mr Bakaya while expressing his gratitude to Chief Minister for having put the issue of migration in its historical perspective and set at rest all speculations about the reasons most tragic and painful migration of KPs from Valley.
He said submission of revised proposal of package to Union Government shows the seriousness and cherished desire of the Coalition Government to resettle migrants in Valley with honour and dignity. The Executive Committee of the Cell said that the Coalition Government with its policies has created a sense of confidence among the minorities.
Those present in the meeting included M K Yogi working president of the Cell, Karan Choudhary its secretary, P L Talashi, Balkrishan Bhat, A K Raina, Amit Kaul, Bansi Lal Mohan Lal Pandita, Som Nath Dhar, Bharti and  Harmohinder Singh.
