MENDHAR, July 14: A young girl was allegedly raped by three local youth in Dhar Galoon area of tehsil Mendhar in district Poonch today.
A police spokesman said that incident took place when 19-year-old Tahima ( name changed), daughter of one Mushtaq Ahmed of Dhar Galoon area was returning home from Bhimber Gali alone. While walking on foot to her village, three local boys suddenly appeared at an isolated place and dragged her to nearby forest area.
The girl raised alarm but she was overpowered by the accused. They committed rape on her one by one and then escaped. The girl weeping reached home and narrated whole story to her parents. The family members, assisted by relatives reached police station Gursai and lodged an FIR No. 53/2012 against the accused. The girl gave her statement to the Investigating Officer who registered a case under Section 376 RPC.
The girl was later taken to Mendhar hospital for medical examination where it was found that she was raped. The police has identified two accused so far and they are Mohd Amjad, son of Haji Yasin and Sayeed Anwar, both residents of Dhar Galoon. Third accused could not be identified so far. All the three accused were still absconding. SDPO Mendhar Amit Bhasin said that police parties have been sent to different locations to nab the accused persons.
