JAMMU, July 22: The dental surgeons today took out a candle march in protest against Government for not conceding their demands here.
The unemployed dental surgeons assembled at Ambphalla Chowk and marched towards Kachi Chawni. They were raising slogans against the Government for not redressing their demands.
Meanwhile, female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the 10th consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the association entered 22nd day here today.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Saloni Tandon was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the association.
Chairman of the association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia while speaking disclosed that, senior vice president of JKPCC Hari Singh along with party workers visited the dharna site at Ambphalla and gave a patient hearing to their demands.
“On behalf of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and Health Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, JKPCC delegation assured to resolve the genuine demands at an earliest”, he added.
Dr Jasrotia also said that State general secretary of BJP Manish Mahajan along with members of grievance cell BJP and party workers also assured to raise their demands at appropriate platform.
He Singh added that on July 25, the agitating doctors along with the support of various associations will take out a massive protest rally commencing from Ambphalla Chowk against the callous attitude of the Government towards unemployed dental surgeons.
Dr Jasrotia also appealed the people to come forward and join their protest on humanitarian grounds.
He also said that their dharna will continue till their demands including complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the State are redressed.
