Court awards one year imprisonment to bus driver in accident case

JAMMU, July 22: Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh awarded one year rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 3000 to Sikander Kumar a bus driver who was facing trial for the last 12 years in case causing death of person by accident.
According to the police case that on October 15, 2002 Police received an information that a bus which was being driven rashly and negligently on October 14, 2002 while on its way to Malpur to Mishriwala, driver lost control and a person namely Naresh Kumar was hit and found dead. Police after completion of investigation presented challan in the court.
After hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer Jatinder Anand, Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh observed that the road accidents have become a common occurrence on our roads as motorways with all accompanying fatalities and casualties. Rash and negligent driving by drivers is one of the prime causes for this havoc and with these observations Court awarded one year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 3000 to Sikander Kumar.
