Sagar inspects development projects

SRINAGAR, July 14:  Minister for Rural Development, Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar today undertook an extensive tour old city Srinagar to take the stock of various developmental works initiated by the Government.
He was accompanied by senior officers of district administration, various executive agencies like R&B, PHE, Irrigation, SMC and other allied departments.
While inspecting the pace of macadamization of roads at different places, the Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that the same is completed within the shortest possible time so that the people of different areas do not face any inconvenience. He said “we have to ensure that the people of the State are provided with quality basic amenities”.
Mr. Sagar also inspected the pace of work on various community halls being constructed in the city and directed the officers to speed up the pace of work on these so that the people living in their catchment areas get the requisite benefits.
The Minister also visited the shrine of Dastigeer Sahib and assured the people that the work would be started soon and it would be ensured that it is completed within the stipulated time that too on the previously existing architectural pattern.
While interacting with different deputations, the Minister assured them that the Government is abreast with the problems being faced by them and every possible measure is being taken to redress the same. He said that the old city Srinagar has a tremendous potential of tourism and related activities.
He said that Government has  devised the guidelines by which the people living there can convert their structures into guest houses and other related tourist facilities during tourist season which would go along way in uplifting their economic profile.
Responding to the demands of people whose structures have been acquired, the Minister assured them that they would be provided adequate compensation as early as possible and necessary action would be initiated against the officials who are trying to delay the same. He also inspected the status of work on Syed Meerak Shah and KZP road projects and directed officers to ensure that these are completed within the stipulated time frame.
The Minister also announced an amount of Rs. 25 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for augmenting the water supply in Reshi Mohalla, Shamaswari, Khanyar and other areas.
