Tripatri, 1 lakh cash recovered from smuggler

Srinagar, July 23 : Police claimed to have arrested a smuggler while transporting Tripatri, in Kralpora, Kupwara.
A police spokesman said on a specific information, Kupwara police established a naka at Sholora crossing in Kralpora and seized a vehicle.
“A Tata 407 vehicle bearing registration number JK09/2036 tried to break the naka and fled from the scene. However, the police party chased the vehicle and intercepted it at Vasserkhate,” the spokesman said.
He said during the search of the vehicle one quintal of precious forest produce Tripatri and one lakh cash was recovered from the vehicle.
He said the notorious Tripatri smuggler Mohammad Anwer Shah son of Willayat Shah resident of Dardpora was arrested along with seized property.
An FIR No. 59 under Section 379/6 Forest Act has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
