UDHAMPUR, July 24: The Minister for Horticulture, Housing, Culture, Youth Services & Sports, Raman Bhalla inaugurated newly constructed district library at Udhampur here today.
Among others, MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Chenani, Krishan Chander Bhagat, SSP Udhampur, Mohd. Suleman Choudhary, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal and prominent citizens of the district were also present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Bhalla appreciated that this is one of the best building of libraries department constructed in Jammu province. He also appreciated the efforts made by the department from officers level to official level in producing such a magnificent library for public. The public as well as the children/ youth shall be benefitted a lot. These effort of the department will increase the reading habits among the students and they will be attracted towards the library.
Director Libraries & Research, Manisha Devi presented a brief description of the libraries department and its functioning at the districts, tehsils and block level. She apprised that the building has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.30 crore by Public Works Department, Udhampur. A large number of books are available in the library with the latest collection which are arranged, systematically language wise and subject wise.
